Alcohol Free
Why is alcohol free important in skincare?
Alcohol in skincare causes harm to your skins protective surface. It depletes and drys out the skin compromising its natural PH, and can make the skin over oily as it tries desperately to overcompensate.
Many years ago, you would find alcohol in toners and a whole range of products to combat acne and breakouts. Today, plant-based skincare is on the rise and a deeper understanding of how these volatile ingredients can increase acne, breakouts and worsen dry, sensitive skin.
"Ah, but I see you use Benzyl Alcohol and Cetyl Alcohol in your ingredients list". That is totally true. However, Benzyl Alcohol contains no Ethanol, which is the volatile element that causes the above balances. SKN-RG's preservative is approved by The Soil Association and Vegan Society as an effective broad-spectrum preservative. When we formulate, we ensure that our products are safe for use. Benzyl Alcohol was the perfect choice for our products as it is safe for use around the eyes. In chemistry, the term alcohol is used to explain a range of organic compounds, including Benzyl Alcohol which is not a true "alcohol" and Cetyl Alcohol (COSMOS approved) which is actually a soft wax and is 100% plant based, not animal-derived or alcohol-based at all.
